Personal Health & Fitness Journal

Been feeling stale lately sitting for hours everyday for the past week on a laptop marking. Needed a pick me up. Hit the Sulli WR for a 25 full body superset workout. Feels good to get it in. Want to be able to put in quick hitter 15-25 minute workouts on non-fitness days.  

Concerned about body wearing down teaching 4 blocks of PE and having 4 sets of fitness classes on Tuesdays/Fridays. Looking at starting with doing 2 of the 4 classes each fitness day and seeing how the body holds up.

Going to be pressed for time when first baby comes Feb. 27 and will be stuck in the house a lot taking care of it so want to make sure I have home workouts for weekends and a couple non fitness days.

Workouts will consist of:

Insanity Videos
Yoga Videos w/ wife
Body weight exercises:
-pushups
-pull ups
-mountain climbers
-body bridge
-tricep dips
-fish out of water or alternating back/arm extensions for back
-calf raises
-eccentric squats
-hamstring curls on swiss ball

Want to feel strong and in shape. Excited for all the new possibilities upcoming!


Fitness Friday (Jan. 31)

Community Run Day:

Was worried about  patellar tendon pain continuing to act up as well as compartment syndrome issues.  Did a run/walk block 3.  Felt pretty good, weather was amazing. Felt invigorated after doing it.  Leg issues weren't too bad. Probably could have done a little more.  Shocked at how little effort many of the students had in an activity where 'no teacher was looking'.  Great opportunity for a run on a beautiful day and feel ALIVE after and many just went through the motions walking it.

Block 4.   Class was pretty good. Some showed a lot of inner drive, many again were only willing to the bare minimum of walking.

Beep Test - Fitness Day (Feb. 4)

Blk 2: Sr. PE.  Worried about leg issue but thought I'd just give it a shot.  Tried not to think about "might" happen and sure enough didn't notice anything.  Best feeling beep run in a long time.  Got 11.3 which is around a personal best.  Haven't felt any residual pain from it.  Stoked.   Very impressed with the Sr. Class, they went hard.    Love the personal pride they show and competitive spirit.

Blk 5:  Didn't want to do another one but wanted to make sure to lead by example with the new PE 10 Class.  Went to 10.0.  Felt a little 'heavy in legs' running but know I could have gone a little further.  Pretty sure I had it made up in my mind before hand that I was only going to go for 10 and not try and match 11.3.  Little semblance of mental weakness there.    Gr. 10's did pretty well.  A lot of them showed to be a healthy level of cardio.


FITNESS FRIDAY - 40/20 FULL BODY DYNAMIC WORKOUT (Feb. 7)

Blk 2 - Went hard. Great workout. Felt good during and after no real soreness after. Very happy with results. Sr. Class represented well. They really seem to buy into capitalizing on a workout opportunity. Set great example for other classes.

Blk 3 - Had Neuf lead. Went through the motions. Did about half effort/participation. Tried to get others on the right track. Didn't have much in the tank surprisingly. Felt gross when trying to go even remotely close to last workout. Body must not be used to multiple vigorous workouts in one day.

Blk 5 - Phillips and I lead group, some superfitters helped. Had decent second wind of energy. Felt fatigued by end of workout. Little bit of a bounce back workout but definitely petered out by the end of it. Gr. 10 class did a pretty good job, weren't into leading. See the potential for them to buy into free opportunity for workout "after school" concept.


TUESDAY FITNESS (INSANITY WORKOUT) (FEB. 11)
Was concerned about pacing body and not doing too many workouts in every block and having body run down. Sat out morning block 2. Felt weird just standing and not doing anything. Sr. Class was pretty good.   Blk 3 - did a little bit of the workout. Stayed off a lot of the jumping/excessive leg based exercises to avoid chronic knee problems. Blk 4 - Went hard. Felt great to get a good workout in. No class blk 5.

Feb. 20th
*Great week of fitness this week. Body is starting to feel much stronger. Cardio still could use a bump but leg issues are subsiding as I get stronger. Getting more motivated to stay that way.

Bad weekend for eating. Got behind on eating well. Need to get back on track. Too much processed food based out of convenience.
